The extraction was really the easy part, using Topaz or Vertus, or any extractor will give similar results. The hard part is keeping the tonal and hue ranges in the image balanced and natural.

I know this doesn't really answer the question Ray, but practicing on more difficult images will effectively increase your ability to find tricks to yield a final (better) result.
