I can help with that - in order to playback any image in a camera the RAW file has to be converted to JPG. To do this without a delay - much more important with video a low resolution JPG image has to be embedded into the RAW file. To embed a full size JPG into a RAW file is to put both files into each RAW image stored and make the files huge.

Or, save both raw and JPG. If you do, the JPG is used for previews.

I put RAW on the fast CFexpress card and JPG on SD. If the JPGs are good enough, I don't even look at the raw. But if I need to do any post, the RAWs are ready to go.
