It is a lower mid-range camera which always has sub-par features... let's be honest.

It's not clear which camera you are referring to, but in my opinion there are no sub-par cameras in the current line up, just different models with different features to suit differing desires and affordability criteria. Furthermore, I doubt in a 'blind' viewing that any of us could tell their outputs apart when using the same lens.

The X-E series of course... it never comes to the market with exciting features. It is just a solid camera but never exciting. Size is it’s main feature.

Not sure that’s fair.. the XE1 and XE2 were so early on in the X system that all their features were exciting (the XE2 was the first Fuji ILC with phase detect autofocus for example).. the XE3 introduced Bluetooth which was new and exciting at the time, and also had all new AF speed improvements.. they’re firmly mid range but I don’t think there’s any rule that says they have to be boring or never include new features.

I guess we have different definitions of what exiting is... though I do have to concede on phase detect. However, in practice the AF still wasn’t a game changer.

It’s ok to admit you just forgot about the Bluetooth.

No, I honestly just do not care about this. Completely unexciting.

The point is the XE3 (just like the XE2) actually introduced a whole new technology to the X system - it did more than just recycle existing parts and features from the higher end cameras.

As it pertains to actual photography...and not gadgetry, I will hold my position.

Well I think your upturned nose over gadgetry is misguided. Bluetooth enabled live, automatic geotagging in the X system for the first time, for some photographers (as well as gadgeteers) that’s a big deal. It’s certainly something I value now on my XP3.

It's not an upturned nose... it simple isn't something I need. It does not better my photography. To one person, you think it is a must have feature. To others, it isn't necessary at all. This goes for IBIS and WR as well. Some people simply never use them.  These forums are fully of must have features that supposedly will kill a camera if they are not there.  Yet, people buy Leica Ms, Large Format cameras, medium format cameras, film cameras of all types, people are still swearing by DSLRs etc... the feature race is import here.  I get that, but to others it simple isn't.

When the XE3 came out, there will have been some existing owners of contemporary high end models like the XP2, XT2 and X100F wishing that their cameras had that feature. I was one of them.

It's ok... it works for you. But as a game-changing upgrade to the X-E3, I think you'd be in the minority as far as thinking it was big.
