Backyard wildlife

My normal outings have been restricted lately due to a health issue. I have been itching to get out to give the E-M1X a workout but had to limit my movements to the backyard. Fortunately the weeping red bottle brush (Callistemon viminalis) has been in full bloom this spring and has attracted various honeyeaters and other creatures.

Here are a few images.

Australian Admiral butterfly

Rainbow Lorikeet

Eastern Spinebill

The surprise visitors has been the Scarlet Honeyeaters which I had not seen in the backyard before. This bird is only 10-11cm in size, often heard but difficult to spot unless you can catch a glimpse of that vibrant scarlet colour.
