Generic color correction filters for diving

Hello,

I have a Meikon underwater camera casing with a 67mm port. I had a red color correction filter also by Meikon made of aluminum, which siezed onto the threads and I had to cut it off (devastating). I am now looking for a replacement.

The exact replacement of the filter made by Meikon, thanks to the import duties in my country, turns out to be quite expensive. Also, given my previous experience, i don't want the aluminium filter to oxidize and sieze again into my casing, i dont think my casing will survive another adventure with the hacksaw.

Can I use generic 67mm red filters that are not specifically marketed for underwater use? If so, are there any specifications that I should look out for such as materials or Wratten numbers?

Any suggestions or experiences are welcome!
