dual cards - different card speeds, same size

When dealing with dual card setups (where the second card is set to backup mode) other than a speed difference, is there any concern over possible problems, like corruption (on the slower card which I tend to use for backup)?

I'm getting one of the new Z cameras and I know that the XQD specs are generally around 400 MB/s write speed, but most or all of my SD cards are rated for UHS-I (so around 100 MB/s write speed).

Is this going to be a problem from a corruption standpoint or does the camera simply wait until the write function to both cards is complete?

(I don't usually shoot video or in burst mode -- except maybe a low continuous mode, like 3 fps, but mostly in single shot modes).
