Lots of Variety Again Out in the Wetlands (11/22/20)
13

Some more mixed stuff from the local Green Cay wetlands, taken on two days over the weekend of October 3rd and October 4th.  All shots taken with the A6600 - the first 8 shots from October 3rd taken with the 100-400mm GM and the last 7 shots taken October 4th with the 200-600mm G.

As usual, all are posted at 1800 pixels on the long side if you click through the original size:

A female anhinga taking a dry break in a pond apple tree

A pig frog seen from above, hiding amongst the floating reeds

A tiny white peacock butterfly, at the end of a flower bud

The lovely great crested flycatcher - not one I see too often

In general, I seem to see no more than one or two times a year, at most - so always nice to get a shot of one

A grey-headed swamphen, stretching its wings out

A male anhinga, spreading out to dry off up on the levee

A marsh rabbit, in the overgrown grass and weeds of the levee, enjoying some grass

Now onto the 200-600mm lens...

A beautiful monarch butterfly on a purple flower

A distant great blue heron standing under a small pond apple tree - fresh after a rain shower

A black-and-white warbler working its way through the pine forest

A Cape May warbler almost straight above me

Another lovely tiny white peacock butterfly on a reed

The very small blue-grey gnatcatcher, working through the shady forest

A banded watersnake, hiding among the reeds, but visible through a tiny gap between

Comments, questions, and critique welcomed always.
