IMO X-Pro series target nostalgia market which focus on old school photography (old film camera hasn't IBIS). X-Pro series should focus on old school photography style (e.g. OVF, simplify menu, shutter sound, dial feeling....).
X-Pro series can replace hidden LCD screen via dual layer screen (apply super cheap glare-free B&W LCD screen on top of normal camera LCD/OLED screen). Better use glare-free (similar to Amazon Paperwhite screen) B&W LCD screen which match with X-Pro series body.
Benefits:
- Camera can use OLED screen for live view or review photo.
- When use OVF/EVF or camera off, display camera setting + film simulation info at B&W LCD screen (low power for 24 hour display).
- Fujiflm menu setting can operate at B&W LCD screen.
- OLED screen can use as backlit of B&W LCD screen.
- B&W LCD screen is extremely low power needed (how frequently digital watch need change battery? Years!)
- Above B&W LCD screen is extremely low cost & simple tech (already use in cheap digital watch).
TicWatch Pro 3 already use this dual layer screen:

The TicWatch Pro 3 tech is extremely simple (and swimproof), below is structure of dual layer screen :

Interesting. However, I would still be using my Pro2 except for three differences with Pro3.
First is the scratch resistant Titanium bottom/top plates with that satisfies a real hardness standard not just a marking pitch like "WR." Second, bigger and brighter VF - particularly the OVF (with a better EVF also). Sure the OVF could be an issue with wider lenses but I seldom use anything wider than 23 and don't own anything wider than 18 - so a moot point with me. Third the protected LCD. Sure one could break the small secondary screen, but it would be a lot easer to break the 3 inch piece of glass sitting there exposed on the Pro2. Since I've reached the evolutionary stage past the chip, I don't need a screen and the only time I use it is after a session of taking image. If I do take and unscheduled dismount off my horse or flip my bike - at least my LCD will be protected. A rock is going to do more damage to a piece of glass than a piece of metal.
Personally I have no interest in IBIS for my XPro. The driving requirement for IBIS is space. The S10 had to put in a big grip to hold the battery - of course marketing had a different story. However, all one has to do is look at the bottom of the camera to see why the grip is there and why it is the size it is. The Oly has IBIS which is what all IBIS fanboys point to. The APSC sensor is about 1 1/3 longer on the diagonal so there has to be more open space in the IBIS for the sensor to move. This also means the actuators have to be able to mover the APSC sensor more than those in the M43. Electronics can be miniaturized over time - but the same is not always possible for physical space. If one sensor needs to move +/-1/4 inch and the other +/-1/8 inch - the former will require 1/4 inch more space. Secondly at the same pixel density as APSC at only 60% of the area the M4/3 only has 60% of the pixel count. So it only has to be able to process 60% of the data and the memory required is only 60% of the APSC. Given The M4/3 has been around for quite awhile, there might also be a higher level of integration (smaller circuits) in the Oly than Fuji. So there just might be more room. I would expect given the larger sales the economy in scale of digital circuity design means that the electronics in the Canon/Nikon/Sony are pretty highly integrated - thus freeing up space. But we don't really have those technical details.
As far as shoehorning IBIS into the XE form factor - we will know when we know. However given the length of the X-E3 is about 4 mm shorter than the S10 it's highly doubtful that there is both room for IBIS of any sort and the battery in the X-E3 form factor. I'm sure the design has been frozen for awhile.
