Generally I am not a people photographer, but there are circumstances in which I think their presence can enhance a photograph, and not just for scale.     In this photograph, the presence of the red gown is an effective contrast.     I had happened upon a model photo shoot.   If one looks to the left of the model, one can see other members of the photo crew.    Fortunately they blend in with the scene.

I have also had situations where people have had their backs to me, looking at the same scene I was photographing.    Since these were sunsets, these spectators were rendered in silhouette, which was my intent.   But their positions and locations served the purpose, I hope, of inviting the viewer of the photograph to come in and share the view.
