Not a good idea to remove the triangular strap connectors, bare rings can cause wear to those mini qd loops.

I have pictures to prove the point and show the wear, others have also found the same problem. Even worse if you are only using one, it fails and that's see you later camera.

We disagree on that. I see no point for the triangular connectors unless you want to use a 1/4" wide nylon webbing strap. The triangles are pointless if using the OpTech mini connectors, which will thread through the bare lug easily.

I have been using the OpTech connectors for many years. It's a good idea to inspect them occasionally, but I have NEVER seen ANY wear on any of mine. Now, I mostly use them for security purposes. If I have a wrist strap on, I carry the camera by the grip, not dangling from the strap. Sometimes when using sling straps I do let the camera dangle, but I don't do that extensively. Perhaps you do, or perhaps you have Oly cameras and their lugs have sharper edges than Panasonic lugs.

But dangling a camera a lot with the triangles in place risks wearing out the camera lug itself, as JeffHarris knows all too well: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64454718

I'd much rather wear out a nylon OpTech cord (which as I say, has never happened for me) than wear out the camera's lug.
