Sensor Tech Generational Improvments

For DSLRs, does this sound like a reasonable naïve generalization?

My experience since the Nikon D1 came out is that every new generation of sensor tech is about one stop better in terms of noise.

There is usually (covid exception) a new generation every 4 years with the low light winner being the sports camera for the olympics.

Of course, its more complicated than that with pro features being tested in earlier different models.

Dynamic range improved also. But I didn't track that. I was always shooting sports with available light at high ISOs as JPEGs (I retired before the days of massive memory cards and dual slots - thats just the way it was done back then on deadline).
