Unique feature set

The X100 series is special in so many ways. It’s strange to me that people single out one specific feature, as if the camera is defined by just that. No single feature is unique to the X100, but overall it is a unique and desirable package, even if certain features are ignored entirely.

- OVF. X-Pro series has it as well, but bigger overall set-up.

- Fixed pancake lens. XF10, X70, Ricoh GR.. but lack other features (EVF, handling, FoV)

- High-quality minimalist camera. Leica Q2, Sony RX1.. but bigger, more expensive

- vs the X-E series: more compact and higher quality lens, more refined and simplified

The X100 is not the only camera available for people attracted to any of its features, but it does combine those features in a unique way.

You don’t have to care about a tilt screen to necessarily prefer it to the Q2. You don’t have to care about X-Trans to necessarily prefer it to the GR3. You don’t have to use any specific feature in order to love the camera as an overall package.

We probably all differ in terms of our priorities as to why we pick up the X100V. For me it’s definitely worth it, even if I might prefer an X-Pro3 and Q2 as a combo set-up. Neither would easily slip into my jacket for a city stroll.
