Photography is also my hobby, so I asked myself: “Do I need full frame ?” No, and I don’t want to spend more than 500€ for one glass.

Exactly! I don't have any regrets. I had a blast with my gear and took some photos that made me happy. But, I'm ready for something more affordable and lighter.

Bonnie,

The real reason for full frame is if you have "fast" glass you need.

As a Full frame shooter and former M shooter, let me say the 22 pancake + M100 is a deadly combo for compact power.

.

There's two gotchas here to check on:

EF 16-35 f/4L

EF 24-105 f/4L

.

How often do you use these? The 22 pancake and 32 f/1.4 can largely displace the latter, but involves lens swapping which is counter productive if doing event shooting. I'm an amateur myself, but I do alot of event-like shooting (birthday parties, holidays, etc) and my RF 28-70 f/2L gets ALOT of use. That lens is keeping me glued to FF. If, Canon had a faster EF-M lens, I could go back, but they don't.

.

Likewise, I LOVED the 16-35 f/4L, the EF-M 11-22 is VERY capable, but, the rendition is quite different; the lack of coatings that the L gets really counts on the type of shooting the 11-22 encounters.

.

I might have a hard look at an R or RP + 24-105 f/4-7.1 if you use that EF 24-105 f/4L alot.

I put in the 50mm f/1.4 adapted as it's about the same size and weight as the RF 24-105 f/4-7.1.

Likewise, Canon doesn't yet have a RF f/4L ultra wide of some kind, but it will.

.

The trouble with FF is the image quality can't be beat. The M however, is the closest you'll get, without going FF, and is the most fun system I've ever shot. Just lacks some lens options, some important ones like the EF 16-35 f/4L and EF 24-105 f/4L (or faster).

.

No, you're not a pro, neither am I, but look at your most important photos, see what they're from, if they're from one of the lenses I've mentioned, you may need two systems, and yes, the FF will get used sparingly vs the M. But, the FF system serves a valuable use, I can assure you. I had the M and R side by side for a while and the M was the daily driver, but, the R took the important photos. Just a fair warning.

Side note, if you really like the 22 pancake, the RF 35 is a real treat.

Thanks! I think you're totally right that the FF frame quality can't be beat. I just find myself leaving it behind more and more. In the past year, I actually took more photos with the 18-150 than the 24-105 and more with the 11-22 than the 16-35. Which surprised me. While I gave the RP a hard look, the shutter speed doesn't excite me and I would still end up leaving the 16-35 behind because of weight. For me, I think it's time to move on.

This might seem counterintuitive, but maybe what you have now is just fine. There’s a place for both truth told.

If anything, upgrade to the M6 II and enjoy is my vote. My R may get left home a lot, but it’s not replaceable when you want the punch...
