I'm loving my new 55-200 and find it to be super sharp. I was comparing it to my 90 f/2 and while trying to match up focal lengths I noticed this issue. I took one shot and it was 86mm, so I zoomed in a bit, and (super strangely) the further zoomed in shot was 81.9mm. What the heck???
Here are the two photos. Look at the focal lengths:


I don't know what to make of this?
Once I did get it to 90mm, I was shocked to find the 55-200 had better resolution than the 90 f/2 at f/8. That was the only aperture I compared the two lenses at. However, f/8 is where my 90 f/2 is sharpest.
