I have not bought one because I have yet to see any usefulness; the only one I can possibly see is longer time before changing batteries, and so far that has never come up as a need for me.

I am of the same opinion. None of my DSLRs have a grip as I see little point in lugging around the extra weight, That may change with mirrorless in the future as the extra life may be useful, although I may just find it easier to carry a pocket full of batteries and just swap them as required.

I bought a grip for my 80D as I find the body to small and awkward/ uncomfortable to hold without one.

I only use 1 battery and rarely use the portrait buttons. But for $30 it made my 80D not so annoying to use.
