On the 80D I find auto-ISO really hit or miss. Most situations it works fine, but occasionally it will overestimate the ISO and overexpose. Spot meter seems to fare the best but is still too wide for some situations (and unreliable for flying birds where you could easily move off-centre). I usually set the auto-ISO capped 1600 for most situations, take it to 400 under brighter days and 3200 when in low light.

I had to set my EC to -1 for this image or else the highlights would appear blown with the ISO at 3200.
