The price debate: country specific
3

Yes, prices generally drop over time and often there are discounts. But….prices are more likely to drop significantly in discounts when there are multiple stores carrying Pentax equipment in your country. Consumers in UK, US, and Canada etc. have plenty of options (Amazon and multiple local stores carrying Pentax, for instance). Here in Norway, all stores have abandoned Pentax. Only one shop is left (fovi.no) and they can charge whatever they want. Since they have no competition, they don’t need to reduce the price significantly.

Here are some of the prices on that sole shop today with today’s exchange rate:

DA star 16-50mm f/2.8 SDM 1446USD / 1117GBP

DFA star 85mm f/1.4 SDM 2096USD / 1619GBP

DA Star 11-18mm f/2.8 DC 1960USD / 1514GBP

DA star 50-135mm f/2.8 SDM 1572USD / 1214GBP

DFA 70-210mm f/4 SDM 1572USD / 1214GBP

With prices like these, the price of K33 camera body is least of the problem

How is the situation in your country? Are there multiple shops carrying Pentax equipment? Are there significant discounts on lenses? Please, specify the name of country in subject title.
