To get FTPS working, and assuming you have a self-signed certificate generated on the Synology NAS, export the certificate, and then combine the following two per files into a single file called root.pem:-

syno-ca-cert.pem

cert.pem

Using MacOS or Linux the following shell command will achieve this:-

cat syno-ca-cert.pem cert.pem >root.pem

Then copy root.pem to the root of the SD Card, and import it on your R5.

This effectively combines the certificate signing authority and the self-signed certificate into a single certificate.

I'm getting around 430 Mb/sec (43 MB/sec) transfer speed, pretty reasonable and acceptable for backup use.
