An update on my "Heavy Rig"
8

In an earlier thread I shared some post-surgery thoughts on my future use of Olympus kit for beach work:

The final set:

- EM-1X (only £1750 new! )

- 300f4 pro + Olympus 100-400

- Gitzo fluid damped Gimbal

- Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Tripod

(I'm already about £1k in profit from the sale of my now unwanted gear )

- Aluminium Lightweight Rollator - Blue (with under-seat camera bag )

Camera + lens + waterproof trousers + emergency medical supplies go into under-seat camera bag

Tripod + Gimbal sit across the handle "scissors" strapped down with "bungies" if needed

Unload rollator from car

Stagger to shooting point

set-up tripod + gimbal

Attach camera to gimbal, comfy cushion on rollator, dress up like Nanook of the North (I'm still a bit weak and get cold very quickly)

See where the main windsurfing action is, point camera, start shooting

An hour later, pack up - go home with 2.5k shots of the action, process and up on the website 2 hours later

I've been developing the rig further and thought I would share progress and a few learning points just in case anyone thinks of going this way (and to seek ideas from anyone who is already there)

So much to learn, so little time left to do it!
