i would say yes..

I sold my D500 and bought a Z6. I was birding with a 200-500mm on the D500 (godmode combination). I tried the 200-500mm on the Z6... and the Z6 doesn't take advantage of the high resolution of the lens. Nice clean photo, though.

a D850 or a Z7 would on the other hand.

a Z6 will give superior image quality in lower light... however sometimes a high resolution grainy photo of a bird is better than a low resolution clean photo of a bird.
