Evidence showing a defective 10mm f/2.8 lens
1

I recently won an eBay auction for a 10mm f/2.8 lens described as 'in perfectly good working order'. I just received it and put it on my V3 for some tests. Far from being in good order, the lens has a defective aperture mechanism, so I'll now begin the return/refund process. I'm just posting this thread so I can link to it in order for the seller to see the evidence.

Here's a sequence of shots in M mode (all at 1/8s and ISO 400), stepping through aperture settings starting with f/2.8:

f/2.8

f/3.2 Far too dark for a change of just 1/3 stop, and the lighting has become uneven

f/3.5 Aperture is partially blocked now

f/4 Aperture is completely blocked now, producing a black image

f/4.5 Another black image

All remaining apertures through f/11 look the same - black images due to the defective aperture mechanism.
