Thanks for the help everyone.  I took the advice on board, and first set the G9 as recommended.

ISO 200-400, EV -1, Saturation -1, f7.1, SS 1/500th as a baseline.  Shot a RAW and a JPG, quite good.. will do more experimenting on settings. locked that one into a Custom C3 setting for quick access.  After the initial tests, I set the G9 in Manual mode, and tested several minor adjustments, Saturation & Exposure slightly.

Certainly sorted the clipped Red channel, it was a sunny morning and this particular flower or cluster of blooms, is a rather intense Red/Orange/Crimson shade, with very little contrasting lines or features...
