Microsoft Photos

I like MS Photos. It's nice and simple, and the screen isn't full of distracting details that I don't (yet) understand. As I photograph mainly insects, I spend a lot of time zooming in/cropping to see just how close in I can go before the image goes soft/fuzzy, often having to repeat on multiple images to select the best one. I've tried Adobe Bridge and Digital Photo Professional 4 but unless I'm missing a trick, they don't make it so easy to do this.

But it keeps ruddy crashing when I save I've followed all the instructions to fix this I've found on the internet, up to and including reinstalling, but it's still doing it (I use Windows 10). Usually, but not always, when I have more than one photo displayed.

Has anyone had this problem and managed to fix this? Or could anyone recommend software which would make it easy for me to zoom in on a number of images to compare them and select where to crop?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions
