Augustin's comment reminded me that many years ago (around 2006, to be specific), there were a couple of years when burrowing owls (Athene cunicularia) appeared in my neighborhood. I have quite a few pictures of them, including one in the burrow:

The picture is stripped of EXIF info (it was published, and it was one of the requirements--don't ask me why), but it was taken on 12/22/06 with Coolpix 8800. It cost me a shirt, since after an hour of lying on the wet ground in guano omnipresent Canada geese, waiting for the owl to show up, the stains on the shirt proved to be impossible to remove.

Oh, sweet memories of the days of  the past...
