IDing a vintage Leica lense

Hi everyone.  Am looking for information about a Leica lens that doesn't seem to exist in any of the on-line databases I've been able to find.  Was part of my grandfather's kit, the rest of which my (hapless?) father gave away to a friend.  Judging by this item, which I found at the bottom of a box, Grandad had good taste

The lens is am Ernst Leitz Summarex 8,5cm f/1,5.  What makes it unusual is the mount.  Has a bayonet mount -- I'm guessing an M mount.  Every other example of this lens I can find is screw mount.

Three questions, I guess

1) Is this an M mount?  Hard to tell from what I can see on-line.

2) Does anyone know if it can be adapted to a Canon EF body?  Seems like a beauty, but I'm not about to replace my 5D or 6D just to shoot with it.

3) Is this the kind of lens anybody would want to own, considering it's not the standard screw thread one typically sees in other exemplars?

Thanks,

Ned
