Re: Eos R5 hot shoe corrosion after one shooting in light rain

Here is my R5 Hot Shoe. I have shot in the fog, in the rain, inside of a river flowing in a waterfall, on the coast with the salt water waves splashing my camera. The only time I ever covered the camera was when I was shooting against saltwater, but even then it was just my rain cover from my backpack.

No signs of corrosion.

I would suggest to the OP that A) I am not sure how that thick of corrosion could have occurred from just some rain. As others suggest, it looks more like acid from a battery. I don't know what caused your problem, but based on my experience, I do not believe that this is a common issue for the R5.
