Their coloring ranges from light brown to black; usually bulls are the darkest, typically in the chest and lower abdomen area. I don't think he was wet in this particular instance, but the light was behind him.

Here's an example of a front-lit moose, still a dark moose, though.

Thanks! They look fine on both my phone and my calibrated monitor, though. Do they all appear dark to you, or one in particular?

The picture over all look OK but the animals are much blacker than I thought they were. I thought they were brownie grey. They look much better in black (wet?)

That first shot is the most attractive picture involving a moose that I've seen. Great backdrop.
