Hi,

Some of them actually had different optical constructions - eg the 28/3.5 has eight elements where the element number was reduced in the M version.  This suggests better correction, but it isn't a universal truth that a lens with more elements is better. I just keep reading on the net (from owners/users) that this was true in the case of the 28/3.5.

Another M lens that commands a lot of respect is the 28/2 and the prices have soared to insane levels because of rarity.  Prices up with used Zeiss.

The K series didn't run that long - Pentax developed the M series - and because there are fewer K's they probably hold price for that reason too.
