My old 5DIV is not a DSLR then, since 2016 it survived multiple salt water splashes along with the lenses (all supposed to be weather-sealed). No visible damage, no corrosion in the hot shoe. However I was always wiping it with a wet clean cloth after exposing it to the seas.

Under the fresh water rain - it was there many times, no consequences.

Anecdotal single case reports are not representative. If humidity reaches the circuit board, then it's gg for the camera. Even condensation is not safe. I know someone who destroyed their weather sealed Fuji around a hot spring.
