Reflecting on a decade of fuji cameras.

Having just received my X-T4 I thought it might be time to reflect upon my experience with Fuji cameras over the past 10 years. As a bit of background I have been a full time professional photographer for the past 46 years, working in both the commercial field and fine art sectors. I can't even begin to list the cameras I have owed over those years....pretty much everything ! For most of my recent years I've used Nikon gear for my commercial work. (D810 now, with most of the high end lenses). For personal work..Leica's, Blad's, Contax, Mamiya... etc.
When the X100 was announced I put a pre order in straight away. That was an amazing revelation ! I still have it, plus a spare one as well as as an X100T. The files from that camera are STILL some of the best I have ever shot. That camera really had something special about it. It is still one of my 'go too' cameras. So... moved onto the X-E1, X-E2, X-T1, X-T2 and now the X-T4.
Despite being a 'rusted on' Nikon user, (I'm too old to change now !) I feel that Fuji is the only camera company that really has any idea as to what photographers want and are at least prepared to experiment and push the boundaries, so as to give some kind of alternative. Nikon seems to have lost the plot, Sony's are for tech nerds and Canon's are for those who follow the herd. Must say all the recent releases have been mind numbingly boring ! I do hope that Fuji continues to listen to people who actually take photos rather than do battle with the other brands on specs and price. I hope they continue to 'think out side the box' and peruse a philosophy of integrity and innovation.
In the mean time, I'm totally thrilled with my X-T4 and the 35mm F1.4 is still one of my favourite lenses of all time. 18-55mm have owed from day one and still my fav travel lens. The X100 series is a joy (kudos for NOT messing it up!). Also looks like the 50mm F1.0 might well become a classic. (next purchase !).
Just thought I'd share my thoughts...
Cheers,
Ashley Mackevicius.
