Using AFS/AFF and AFC with Back Button Focus?

I've gotten into BBF with my FZ1000, but have a problem understanding how to use these two functions in combination. AFS and BBF are easy to understand (static subjects,) BBF (release button) and compose.  However, I'm not sure how to use BBF when in either AFF or AFC.  Although, I'm pretty sure that when in AFC, and shooting a moving subject, one must keep both the BB and shutter button depressed and be in Burst Mode while following a moving subject. However, using BBF AFF is problematic and I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks.
