Pre-recording/Best Frame Capture

The Canon M6 II has a very nice feature, that allows capturing photos for about 1/2 second before you fully press the shutter, until the shutter is released.  It's called RAW burst mode with pre-recording.  It has some limitations.  It's a 12-bit capture with electronic shutter, it's cropped, and it's not certain that the camera can refocus during capture.

Nevertheless, this could be a fantastic aid for capturing action photos.  There are many situations when you can't predict the timing well enough and you can't react fast enough to capture the action.  My own interest is behavioral photos of hummingbirds.  Some people have already posted pictures of bees in flight.

On looking into this I was surprised to find that it appears to be an uncommon feature.  Is this the only Canon with this feature?  What other cameras have implemented a similar feature?  What limitations do they place on the feature?
