P900 uses a standard CMOS sensor, while P1000 uses a BSI sensor (backside illumination).
The latter one has slightly higher sensitivity in comparison to the format one.

I think the sensor informations can be confusing,

and it's not as clear cut as the APS-C & Full-Frame.
