It happens also on the DP3m I have, and I think it is due to air pollution. I used to have it always with me in the car, on the front passenger seat.

When you are done with cleaning, try to store it in a camera bag, and in a place without much car exhaust, or gas heating exhaust, etc. Aircraft exhaust too may be corrosive, and probably ozone from copiers or laser printers.

Also, turn the dial(s) at least once a week, powered and not powered, on all positions.

There is a tarnish on the electrical contacts, from the many things around us, and it needs to be at least displaced by handling.
