Hi there, my ancient memory card will not format properly and shows zero frames available. I have followed instructions from the manual but it does not work. What can I do to resolve this problem. I put the photos on a computer with a cable. I deleted all photos then tried formatting. Still showing FULL! Would appreciate a solution. This a new camera for me and it is just one challenge after another

Having owned and hassled with digital cameras for a while I have a few suggestions, but I haven't owned a S5.

My guess is you used the computer to delete the photos, rather than using the camera for this.  Earlier cameras get very confused by this stuff.  Deletion should happen only in the camera.

I assume you are trying to format the card using the camera.  It isn't a good idea to try to format using the computer, while the camera and computer are connected with a cable.

You could try to copy one of the photos to the card from the computer, then see if you can view that photo using the camera.  If so, it might format.  Do not use the computer to format the card.

I guess you have already tried the usual things:  1) Remove the card and check to be sure the file protect switch on the card is set to read/write (its normal position).  2) Put the SD card in a SD reader and put it in the computer and format the card in the computer, then try to format it in the camera and 3) for any action, battery in camera must be fully charged.

Good luck with all this!
