Well with the rumored M50 Mark II on the horizon, I’m going to have to decide which body to designate as my full-time macro shooter. With a fully articulating LCD the M50ii would be the natural choice IMO. But if the AF outperforms the M6ii’s, then I may want to assign it to general duties instead. Egad, I wasn’t expecting this quandary (but it’s a good one to be in).

You can always sell the M6mkII and get 2x M50mkII.
No way! I love the M6ii’s compact form-factor and the (ultra-fast) tilting LCD waaay too much for general shooting. The flippy LCD of the M50ii will come in handy when shooting macros though. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever use the M50ii’s EVF.
Gotta remember, I’ve already “evolved” into an LCD-only shooter.

AF on the M50ii should be better than M6ii
Well darn, with the M50ii's spec being released, this is all a academic now.
but lack of dials is not a deal breaker for you?
That's a real tough one. For macro-only I could have lived without some of the controls, but it still would have been hard for me (I shoot full manual 100% of the time, and I'm also a BBAF shooter). The M6ii really is set up perfectly for me, plus it has Custom Modes on the dial.
M6iis AF is pretty good already, it's basically point & shoot!
Yeah, the M6ii's AF is absolutely killer. It does (far) better in low light and with action than even the vaunted 7D2 DSLR. It's fantastic having the confidence to shoot anything on the planet (and at max aperture no less). For BIFs though the difficulty lies mainly with the EVF's display representation and not so much the AF.
Also I believe if you have a decent built in evf you WILL end up using it.
Not for me. I absolutely love shooting with the back LCD. Getting to all those creative angles so easily and quickly is entirely intoxicating. I rarely ever am shooting from my eyepoint.
..I think the reason for being LCD shooter is that the removable evf is a pain lol. LCDs do come in handy for certain situations though of course.
Even for birds I often like to get the camera as low to the ground as possible (the tilt LCD works wonders). For BIFs however it's another story of course. Gotta be using the EVF/OVF then, and this is where the 7D2's great OVF comes into play. So far only the R5 looks to challenge it (I'm hoping).
