Crop a full frame image in post and then see if the DoF changes...

Sigh

It does, (assuming the images are displayed at the same size), and every DOF calculator confirms it.

At this point you are literally arguing against a calculator. If you are going to double down on that, the burden is on you to prove that every DOF calculator is wrong.

So changing the size of at least one of the images to make both of them equal is creating the difference, and not the crop...

Of course, that's what I've been saying since the beginning. The shallower DOF is due to the greater enlargement needed to get to the same display size.

Not arguing against the calculators, but against your twisted logic...

The calculators use the same logic as me, that the only reasonable way to compare two images is at the same display size. This is how DOF between images is always compared.

When you look at images from an APS-C camera do you display them smaller than images from a FF camera, or do you fit them to the display medium like everybody else?

Comparing two images at different sizes so you can say the DOF is the same is far more illogical. If I took a full frame image that was exactly the same as the cropped image, would you say it has the same DOF as the cropped image, or would you display it larger and say it has the same DOF as the uncropped image?

After this post I'm moving on cause you're never going to understand that your changing conditions to suit what you want to believe. I am arguing against your beliefs at this point, and have no interest in getting you to change how you think.

I'm not the one changing things to suit my beliefs. I am using the definition and method of calculating DOF that has been universally accepted for the entire history of modern photography.
