The Panasonic G90 has a built-in flash, the G9 does not.

Having a flash is often very useful in still photography, including providing fill flash in difficult lighting conditions.

Per most camera makers, "professional" photographers don't want a built-in flash since they have an external flashes. But for folks traveling or doing long hikes, an external flash is just something extra to carry.

Daniel Cox, former LUMIX ambassador, was/is a big fan of the G90 because of the flash.

"About the only disappointment I had with the release of the Lumix G9 is the fact it was missing a built-in flash. I’ve heard from both Nikon and now Lumix that pros don’t want a built-in flash, and I say bunk in triplicate. Build it tough, build it stout, and I would buy a camera with one over a camera without every time."
More comments by Cox and good photos that demonstrate the value of a flash for outdoor nature photos can be seen at the following link.
