I have no words for this release. Even my article on this announcement states that
Shelf stuffing at it's finest.
The only good thing about this camera? I won't be spending money on Canon cameras this Christmas, which it looks like I'm going to go to Colombia in November or December anyway, so there's that.
I got the M6 Mark II last december for a crazy deal ($750 for EVF, 15-45mm kit). I thought at the time I was only going to temporarily use it and didn't get it full-spectrum converted.
I take it you don't do any flash photography and/or video work with external microphones?
external microphones is never a problem - use a cage system (cold shoe plate, etc) and be done with it. External microphones do not necessarily have to go on the hotshoe, it's just a "convenience". If i'm using a microphone, odds are I don't need an EVF (and yes, I have one)
it's the flash that is of course a problem - what someone needs to do is make a E-TTL II extension cable with the data passthrough.
I have a E-TTL passthrough cable (for shooting using umbrellas etc) but I honestly don't think that the EVF will work on top of the hot-shoe passthrough ( I seem to recall someone explaining why this was not possible but I don't remember where I saw it).
For those times I just simply don't use the EVF. Usually, when I'm shooting with flash it's indoors, so having an EVF is less of a problem. Or if I need both, I use the built in flash.
I also have a M5 as well, so if there are times I really need both I can use that camera, but in reality, it's not that much of a limitation for me.
I guess I could keep the M50 as my "flash" camera! I need to get my hands on a M6II with EVF to see how practical it is.
