That's basically an M200 + viewfinder +flip all directions screen + hot shoe. Maybe Canon was able to sqeeze out a little more AF sensitivity by better software...... But it won't be as nice as the 32Mp sensor.....

deal or no deal = No Deal

+2 Dang. For me no 32 MP = No Deal.

It's going to be a fine camera for a lot of (other) people though. Note: I acknowledge that my own use case (macro) is very limited!

Nokishita just saved me $1000 for sure!

What a "joke" of an upgrade. I think it's time to seriously think of my mirrorless future - the M6II is so nearly the perfect camera for me but being an EVF fan and a flash user means its' a non-starter so what do I do. Bulky expensive Fuji, competitive with the hideous user-interface or just keep the M50 and cheer myself up by buying a 100-400 for my sports photography!

Waited sooooo long for this - Canon you're losing us..

what exactly were you expecting? I mean you are currently using a sub-$700 camera, $800 with the kit lens.

M6II with built-in EVF is what I was hoping - is that such a ridiculous request?

It would be for an M50 Mark II, yes, a ridiculous request. Now if this was the M5 Mark II and looked like this release, I'd be right with you with torches and pitchforks.

The price of my M50 is as relevant to your argument as the price of my 5DIII. Have you asked me what I am willing to pay for such a camera before you judged me?

what does your judgment have anything to do with it? Tone down the hostility, I was asking a simple and pretty straightforward question. If you are along standing canon customer or have watched releases, you'd know that canon especially at the low end resists screwing around with prices. So what the M50 came out at, is atypically what a normal person would expect the M50 Mark II to come out at. Exchange rate and votility of the Yen can play a factor in that but more times than naught, it's pretty close, if not lower.

For the record €1000 is a reasonable price that I would be willing to pay for body-only maybe more for more improvements ...

Then that wouldn't be an M50 mark II.

I like you, am waiting for the M7 or the M5 Mark II if it indeed ever comes.

however I would have been shocked if the M50 ticked all the boxes, since it will be the second cheapest EOS-M camera in current production.
