Metering - I usually shoot football using manual exposure with a fixed ISO. I have found that I get fairly consistent exposures working the sidelines from goal line to goal line.

Have you only shot night games?

For day games I usually use manual settings with auto ISO. In Colorado, my day games are usually state playoff games in late October through November. In day games I don’t see the camera exposure getting fooled very often. The low sun also causes shadows across the fields and players move in and out of the shadows and auto exposure takes care of that. The low sun at times often dictates the best direction to shoot from.
