actually, NO. Hot shoes as we know them today are a 1970s innovation, and took a long time to "standardize". Before that, dating to the 1950s, we had PC Connectors. Before that, I have no idea.

So we've had at least three iterations in the past 100 years.

You really should do your homework before making such misleading, inflammatory posts.

Some people just don't like change, I guess. But here, it's hard to understand given the easy solution.

Cameras at least from the late 1940s / early 1950s had a cold shoe ( e.g. https://www.kenrockwell.com/kodak/retina-1a.htm ) and used a cable to the PC socket ( these were used for rangefinders and viewfinders too)
