.... why did Canon remove the FLASH PIN???
Ok. I tried this out with my Nikon set-up.
If someone can try this out with their Canon set-up it would be cool to know if it also works.
I happen to have 4 Yongnuo RF603N II wireless flash triggers. (For Canon, you would require the Yongnuo RF603C II.)
These are dumb triggers. The extra pins on the flash triggers are simply pass-thru.
But they have the ability to trigger the shutter on the camera through the included cable. (You have to make sure to get the correct model for your camera.)
So I wondered . . . is it possible to use one of the triggers to trigger two of the remotes. One remote would get the camera to fire. The other would get the flash to fire.
And, it worked! Although I was only able to get up to 1/200 flash sync speed. With 1/250 flash sync speed, there was a bit of darkening at the bottom of the image.
This was the set-up.
Trigger 1) Put onto the camera, with the supplied cable that hooks up to the trigger release on the camera. (It looks like the Canon 250D still has the 3.5mm shutter release input.) Trigger set to TRX
Trigger 2) Attached to the external flash unit. Trigger set to TRX.
Trigger 3) Handheld and set to TRX.
NOTE:All wireless triggers set to the same channel.
Now . . . just use Trigger 3 to trigger both your camera and the flash unit.
The camera will take a picture, and the flash will fire, contributing to the exposure.
NOTE: I noticed someone above pointed out that the Godox flash units have been reprogrammed to work with the missing center pin. Maybe Godox have made their wireless triggers work with the missing center pin. If so, that would be an easier way to get around this issue.
Take care & Happy Shooting!
