For still life, macro, compositing, and scenic. Which is to imply I have no need for refined or fast focusing. 800's 810's are fairly cheap right now but not a big mpx bump from my D600, so I'm looking for min of 40mp. Thinking 850 used prices could slump soon, but might be paying more for the features I dont need rather than the sensor. I could adapt my Nikon lenses to SONY! ?
This is a retirement hobby.

Hi Ivan,

Here (UK) D810 are holding at about £1k for a good one but D800 are very good value.

36mpx is quite a large file, plenty of potential to print big or crop a lot.

I wouldn't rule it out, especially as D850 are likely to hold their value at a higher level probably until the Z range are well into their stride.

Thanks Mark.  I'm leaning to 810 or 800.  My new desktop for editing will be built this week, then i will dowload a trial of Topaz Gigapixel.  If Topaz does a decent job on my D600 files I am sure either the 800 or 810 will be gold star for my applications with money saved.
