I have both, and think both are excellent. I haven't really noticed a color difference, but I always shoot RAW (except for some sports), and import into Lightroom with custom settings, which probably erases any color differences. If you're shooting RAW, you can tune the color to your liking pretty easily. With JPEG, it's a hit harder, but still entirely possible. I would go with whichever focal length suits you best, but also plan on getting both eventually, because they are stellar lenses.

As the length of a thread approaches 150, the probability that someone will make the obvious "it's not the camera, it's the photographer" remark approaches 1.
