If you shoot raw you can change the colors to suit you. If you shoot jpeg, you can still have some settings in camera which might help achieve what you want. A small white balance change will produce warmer colors.

I would rather be worried if the lens isn't sharp, it misses focus, it has nasty chromatic aberrations, has hard to correct distortions or has poor contrast.

But Sigma 56mm seems better suited to portraits, unless you plan to shoot just whole body portraits.
