Bee on salvia - critique please?
1

Canon EOS 750D, with a 55-250 zoom lens - my son's kit, but I'm looking to get my own Canon body and lens(es).

I'm still trying to get my head around the basics, so would be grateful for any suggestions on how to improve my shots - the flower seems to be in focus, the bee is a little off... maybe because of bee movement, but increasing the speed would reduce the available light - which wasn't particuarly great anyway - and depth of field, but that'll usually be the case from now till next summer. All taken on auto, handheld.

I dare say a prime lens would give better results, but I never know how near or far I'll be from the insect so want to start with a general all-rounder (my compact gives good results for very up-close shots). I don't even know how much better I could go in these lighting conditions with this camera/lens?
