Given the greatly discounted price on both G9 and the Mk III, for those who have used both cameras, which of the two is a better overall camera when considering video shooting might be 50%?

In terms of the video, the fact that the G9 can shoot 60fps in 4K is a distinct advantage; it gives you the option of creating high quality slow motion in the rendered video. I also like the IS Lock feature which produces freakishly stable video when you don't need to pan your shot (ie: it's more stable than regular IS that works ok with panning).

Dpreview did a comparison video of the EM1.3 and G9 that might help you decide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB71SN-r25k&ab_channel=DPReview

+1

I've been impressed with C-AF in the G9 with both the P-L 12-35/2.8 v!, and more recently the Oly 12-100/4.0 Pro. Unfortunately G9's phenomenal Video IS-lock doesn't function with the Oly, but it does with my smart adapted Canon 100-400-II when IBIS is used and OIS switch off on lens at startup. Go figure!

And the G9's low light performance is flat amazing in both stills and video. Below is link to short 4K60p video in my studio with very dimmed lighting - corners barely visible to naked eye - ISO 10,000, 12-35@ 35mm, f/2.8, 1/30 sec, demonstrating C-AF that for the most part is accurate with minimal pulsation in a range of 2-20'. Also absent is any trace of macro-blocking in shadows, with a fine-grain pattern, and the ability to produce a true photographic black of (R,G,B 0,0,0) in captured frames - thus excellent colors for the situation, as well as very good detail. At least 1 EV improvement over GH5 in IQ...
