Sigma autofocus was at best unpredictable in the DSLR's I have tried.

My SD15 is usually predictable in reasonable light. Perhaps because I only use the center point, it's only one with cross-hairs.

The sdQ was a huge improvement.

With certain lenses?

Well, if we are sticking to center point AF in "good light", my Canon 5dII would outperform any Sigma DSLR I have had for any AF performance metric I can think of.

The older Canon 1D from 2002 is better yet.

The sdQ performs best with Global Vision lenses. I have also had good results with the 105mm macro lens.

The sdQ will not AF at all with the original 70mm macro.

I also have a 70-200mm Macro, and AF is spotty with it.
