I just didn't know if you'd need a pretty capable walk-around camera too.

Sigma 50mm Art + adapter on the R is a bit heavy, but the EF 35mm f/2.0 IS on the adapter is fine. An RF 50mm without adapter should be fine.

primes are good for portrait, but for walk about--my RF 24-105 F4L most of the time

There's a very good and compact 35-70 f/8.0. It's hidden in the RF 24-105 non L if you leave out the bad focal lengths and apertures. It has IS and only only costs 400 euro's.

A second camera is also a bit annoying as you have 2 different cards, different numbers, your muscle memory needs to remember 2 different cameras, and to make it really interesting i need to buy a 470 euro walk around 32mm lens for it, making it quite an investment in total. It might set me back 1200 to 1500 euro in total, so just the RF 50mm will likely be more affordable and stabilized, at least on the R5.

I'm thinking that to get a 50 fov and to have to buy a 32 + m5II is too much if the new RF 50 comes in nicely.

I agree.

2-3 cameras are nice for gigs. Walkaround is a different matter.

Maybe later.

Maybe, and oddly enough, if AF performance is the same , i might even pick the M6mkII over the M50mkII.

the 11-22 is only 18 mm fov. I want at least 16 fov, or even 15. The m may be out

Do you need a zoom for wide angle?

Since i have the R (and one day the R5) I won't use an M camera for speedlites anyway and I do prefer the flip up screen. Maybe someone upgrading to M50mkII or M5mkII will create the opportunity to get a used M6mkII + Evf for a good price?

on shoots I need the hotshoe for triggers

O.k., no M6mkII for you.

But again, having a traveling option is nice, but i really don't want to have the EF 35mm f/2.0 always packed just for it's IS with a setup that should be light. Without IBIS it will never be truly light weight.

RP is lighter than R and nice for walkabout with RF 24-105 L - I can one hand it with wrist strap for hours

Actually you should get a RP mkII. Something as small as the RP but with the R6 sensor.

So it might happen, but it's behind the horizon. March 2022 my bank account will be "almost below zero Kelvin" because of the purchase of the R5.

unless earning an income with the tools, I think the price is way too much and a mess

Yes, it's too much. Saving up for it anyway. One day it will be affordable, so i can always wait longer. And maybe another in between model with the same crazy good AF will arrive in the mean time.

Once i will give M some love again it might be 2023. Probably the M6mkIII + IBIS will be released. Or the M6mkII will be a bargain. We'll see. The price of the R5 gives Canon some time to put IBIS in their M bodies.

By 2023 there will be more RF lenses I want and likely more FF body options

the more I think about it, and timing of releases, the m is likely dead for me because no 15/16 fov, no IBIS for the 32, I'm getting the RF 85 F2 IS so no reason for the 56, and Canon in the long run will be focused on getting more and more into RF lenses and more and more technology into that small FF Rp like bodies.

The thing that could pull apsc out of the dust for me would be a focus on reach (crops strength) and we don't see Canon designing long lenses for M like Sony's 70-350

anyway, some will spend enormous dollars on this stuff when

sometimes, less is more

If you would be happy with the 18mm equivalent and 300mm in stead of 350 you could save some money too.  EF 70-300mm adapted won't break the bank and has good IQ. 15 or 16mm could be nice, but if you need that in a zoom it's expensive, and not compact at all.
